Safety Rules & Liability Waiver

Please read carefully before participating in any riding activities

Safety Rules & Guidelines

At Lynne's Horse Riding Center, your safety is our top priority. All riders, regardless of experience level, must follow these safety rules and guidelines at all times while on our premises.

1. General Safety Requirements

  • All riders must wear an approved riding helmet at all times when mounted on a horse
  • Closed-toe shoes with a heel (riding boots or sturdy shoes) are required - no sandals, flip-flops, or sneakers
  • Long pants are mandatory for all riding activities
  • Hair must be tied back securely if shoulder-length or longer
  • Remove all jewelry that could catch on equipment or tack
  • Arrive 15 minutes early for helmet fitting and safety briefing
  • Never approach or handle horses without instructor permission

2. Behavioral Guidelines

  • Always follow instructor directions immediately and completely
  • Approach horses slowly and speak calmly - no sudden movements or loud noises
  • Never walk directly behind a horse - always speak to alert them of your presence
  • Keep a safe distance (one horse length) from other horses and riders
  • No running, shouting, or disruptive behavior in the barn or riding areas
  • Stay calm if something unexpected happens - horses respond to your energy
  • Inform instructors immediately if you feel uncomfortable or unsafe

3. Riding Restrictions

  • Do not ride if you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Riders must be physically capable of controlling a horse
  • Weight limit: 220 lbs (100 kg) for rider safety and horse welfare
  • Pregnant women should consult their doctor before riding
  • Inform staff of any medical conditions that may affect your riding ability
  • Children under 7 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times

4. Facility Rules

  • Stay in designated areas unless accompanied by staff
  • No smoking anywhere on the premises
  • No food or drinks in the riding arena or near horses
  • Keep gates closed at all times unless instructed otherwise
  • Dispose of trash properly in designated receptacles
  • Spectators must remain in designated viewing areas
  • No pets allowed on the property without prior permission

5. Emergency Procedures

  • Emergency contact information must be provided on registration
  • First aid kits are located in the barn office and tack room
  • In case of injury, notify staff immediately
  • Emergency phone numbers are posted throughout the facility
  • Fire evacuation procedures are posted in all buildings
Important Note: Violation of any safety rules may result in immediate termination of your lesson without refund. Repeated violations may result in suspension or permanent ban from the facility.

Liability Waiver & Release of Claims

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE SIGNING
This is a legal document that affects your rights. By signing this waiver, you are giving up certain legal rights, including the right to sue for negligence.

1. Acknowledgment of Inherent Risks

I acknowledge and understand that horseback riding and equestrian activities involve inherent risks, dangers, and hazards, including but not limited to:

  • Horses are unpredictable animals that may react suddenly to unexpected stimuli
  • Risk of falling from or being thrown by a horse
  • Risk of being kicked, bitten, or stepped on by a horse
  • Equipment failure or malfunction
  • Collision with other horses, riders, or objects
  • Unpredictable terrain, weather conditions, and environmental hazards
  • Potential for serious injury or death

I understand that these risks cannot be eliminated regardless of the care taken to avoid injuries.

2. Assumption of Risk

I voluntarily assume all risks associated with horseback riding and equestrian activities, whether described above or not. I am aware that horseback riding can be dangerous and may result in serious injury or death. I willingly accept and assume all such risks, both known and unknown.

3. Release of Liability

In consideration of being permitted to participate in horseback riding activities at Lynne's Horse Riding Center, I hereby release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue:

  • Lynne's Horse Riding Center and its owners, operators, and employees
  • All instructors, staff members, and volunteers
  • The property owner(s) where activities take place
  • Any affiliates, sponsors, or representatives

From any and all liability, claims, demands, actions, and causes of action whatsoever arising out of or related to any loss, damage, or injury, including death, that may be sustained by me or my property, while participating in such activities, whether caused by the negligence of the releases or otherwise.

4. Indemnification

I agree to indemnify and hold harmless Lynne's Horse Riding Center and all related parties from any and all claims, actions, suits, procedures, costs, expenses, damages, and liabilities, including attorney's fees, arising out of my involvement in horseback riding activities, and to reimburse them for any such expenses incurred.

5. Medical Treatment Authorization

I authorize Lynne's Horse Riding Center staff to obtain emergency medical treatment for me if necessary. I understand that I am responsible for all costs associated with such medical treatment. I agree to provide complete and accurate information regarding my medical history and current health status.

6. Photo and Video Release

I grant permission to Lynne's Horse Riding Center to use photographs, video recordings, or other media of me participating in activities for promotional, educational, or marketing purposes without compensation.

7. Insurance

I understand that Lynne's Horse Riding Center does not provide health or accident insurance coverage for participants. I am responsible for obtaining my own health and accident insurance coverage. I confirm that I have adequate insurance to cover any injury or damage I may suffer or cause while participating in horseback riding activities.

8. Cancellation and Refund Policy

  • Cancellations made 48 hours or more in advance: Full refund or credit
  • Cancellations made 24-48 hours in advance: 50% credit for future lesson
  • Cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance or no-shows: No refund
  • Weather-related cancellations: Full credit or reschedule at no charge
  • Lynne's Riding Center reserves the right to cancel lessons due to weather, horse health, or facility issues with full refund

9. Severability

If any provision of this waiver is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be severed from this waiver and the remainder of the waiver will remain in full force and effect.

10. Governing Law

This waiver shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Parental Consent for Minors

If the participant is under 18 years of age, a parent or legal guardian must sign this waiver on behalf of the minor. By signing below, the parent/guardian acknowledges that they have read and understood this entire waiver, and they consent to the minor's participation in horseback riding activities. The parent/guardian agrees to be bound by the terms of this waiver and to indemnify and hold harmless all parties as described above.

Acknowledgment and Signature

I HAVE READ THIS WAIVER AND RELEASE, UNDERSTAND IT, AND SIGN IT VOLUNTARILY.

I understand that by signing this document, I am giving up substantial legal rights. I acknowledge that I have had sufficient time to read and understand this waiver. I understand that this waiver is binding on me, my heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns.
